RETAINING RINGS
Retaining Rings, which are available in several types and various sizes, are used to fasten assemblies on shafts or inside housings and bores. The ring installs into a groove, thereby creating a shoulder that will retain the assembly. They function with a minimal amount of surface prep to either the shaft or the housing.
These are only a few of the applications in which Retaining Rings are used, often being more efficient and cost-effective than traditional fasteners such as cotter pins, bolts, nuts, washers, screws and more.
Century Spring now stocks three types of Retaining Rings:
1. ER Series: External
2. IR Series: Internal
3. E Series: External Reinforced
These are all available in carbon spring steel (SAE 1060-1090).
